Ullapool & Stornoway

Itinerary

Day 1: Departing from your home area we travel to Ullapool for a 2 nights stay dinner, bed and breakfast at the Royal Hotel.

Day 2: In the morning we head for the Knockan Crag National Nature Reserve. We will have a short stop here to take in the breath-taking views. We then enjoy a relaxed drive to Kylesku Bridge with time set aside for photos. Afterwards we return to Ullapool where you’ll have free time to explore in the afternoon.

Day 3: Departing early in the morning we head to the ferry terminal to begin our sailing. Upon arrival on the island we make our way to the Butt of Lewis Lighthouse. Situated at the most northerly point of the Isle of Lewis this striking lighthouse is renowned for its dramatic cliff-top setting and breathtaking coastal views. We then continue to our hotel.

Day 4: Departing in the morning we head for the west side of Lewis. We start our morning by heading to the Gearrannan Blackhouse Village, which gives a unique insight into island life in a traditional thatched house village dating back to the 1800’s. We then head to Carloway Broch, a type of structure only found in Scotland. Please note access to this is on an uneven path and not suitable to those with walking difficulties. Moving onto the Calanais Standing Stones, an extraordinary setting of stones which dates back over 5,000 years ago. You will also have an opportunity to purchase refreshments at the café. Travelling through Harris we make our way to the Church of Rodel where we will make a comfort stop and you will have time to take some photos. Finally we return to the hotel in time for our evening meal.

Day 5: Enjoy a leisurely morning before heading to the ferry terminal for our 1pm sailing. Please note that due to ferry schedules we expect to arrive home late this evening.
