DAY 1: Depart from your home area in the morning travelling to the Mercure Doncaster Centre Danum Hotel for a 4 nights stay dinner, bed and breakfast. Tea/coffee on arrival.
DAY 2: Today we drive to the historic city of Lincoln with its magnificent cathedral, and next to it the Norman castle. First, we meet our guide for a familiarisation tour of the city on the coach, followed by a guided tour of the cathedral itself. There is then free time to explore the city at leisure, the old town is a labyrinth of little alleyways and interesting shops to explore with plenty of tea rooms to keep you going for refreshments. For dinner tonight, there is a special traditional dinner menu. Soup of the day for starter, followed by the main a traditional fish and chips or a vegetarian option. Pudding is apple crumble or jam roly-poly, served with ice cream or custard.
DAY 3: After a leisurely breakfast, we journey the short distance to delightful Brodsworth Hall. Explore the changing fortunes of a wealthy Victorian family and their servants. We see the Grand Drawing Room, Billiard room, family bedrooms, and Victorian Kitchen - all featuring memorabilia from bygone times. We return to the hotel early afternoon to enjoy a traditional cream tea with scones, jam, and cream.
DAY 4: After breakfast, we begin our day with a visit to 'The Chocolate Story' in York. We enjoy a guided tour of the history of chocolate making in York, including the Rowntree's factory which opened in 1890. Following our tour we enjoy free time at leisure to explore the city see the famous Shambles and the magnificent York Minister. Later enjoy a relaxing cruise on the river Ouse to see the city from the water. The perfect way to round off your visit to York! After dinner tonight, there is a quiz.
DAY 5: After breakfast, we leave and begin our journey home.
