Itinerary
Day 1: Depart from your home area in the morning travelling to the Holiday Inn Gosforth Hotel for a 4 nights stay dinner, bed, and breakfast.
Day 2: Today we head north via Warkworth Castle to Alnwick where you can obtain lunch and wander the historic town, a stone’s throw from Alnwick Castle. We then drive to Belsay Hall, Castle and gardens,
regarded as the first British country house to be built new in Greek revival style. We return to the hotel in time for dinner.
Day 3: We start with a short drive to Northumberlandia, home of ‘The Lady of the North’ for a quick stop. This stunning landform sculpture scales up to 100 ft in height and spans 1/4 of a mile. We then travel to Morpeth where you can visit its weekly Wednesday market. You have time for lunch and to explore the historic market town. In the afternoon, we stop at Woodhorn Museum, once a 19th-century coal mine and now a museum and heritage centre.
Day 4: This morning we visit Tynemouth Priory which contains a 13th century chapel as well as World War 2 gun battery. You can obtain lunch in Tynemouth following our visit, taking in the local cuisine and a spot of shopping. This afternoon we visit Seaton Delaval Hall where you can stroll around the gardens or see its dramatic halls. We finish off the day with a short drive along the coast to Blyth Beach where you could stop for tea, coffee, or an ice cream by the sea.
Day 5: After breakfast, we leave and begin our journey home.
