Delightful Durham, The Pennines & Beamish

Day 1

Depart from your home area travelling to Durham, arriving at The Radisson Blu hotel. 4 nights stay dinner, bed and breakfast.

Day 2

This morning, we head a short distance to Beamish, the world-famous living museum of the North. Here you can live the story of life in North East England during the 1820s, 1900s, 1940s, & 1950s. Board one of the trams, horse-drawn carts or trains and visit the 1900s traditional sweet shop, explore the 1940s wartime farm, disappear down into the 1900s mine at the pit village or go 'behind the scene's and see some of the fascinating items in the collections of Beamish.

Day 3

Today is a day at leisure in historic Durham. As our hotel is located near the centre of the city, there is plenty to see and do within a short walk today. Perhaps visit Crook Hall & Gardens, the famous Durham Cathedral or maybe enjoy a river cruise to take in the city from a different angle. There is plenty to keep you busy here today, or you could just sit by the river and enjoy a drink.

Day 4

Our day begins with a visit to Bowes Museum, housed in a majestic French-style chateau. Its collections will amaze you with the amazing and beautiful Silver Swan and many wonderous pieces of art and heritage. The museum also hosts a cafe as well as park & gardens for a well-rounded visit. Later on, we head over the scenic North Pennines with magnificent views over the areas many valleys and peaks. We end our day with the rest of this afternoon in the small market town of Stanhope, during our stop you could Durham Dales Centre or Lime Tree Gallery.

Day 5

After breakfast we leave and head for home.
