Itinerary
Day 1: Depart from your home area in the morning travelling to the Blackwell Grange Hotel for a 4 nights stay dinner, bed and breakfast. Upon arrival enjoy a welcome drink. After dinner tonight relax after your journey and enjoy light entertainment.
Day 2: Christmas Eve. This morning we travel through the beautiful Bilsdale Valley, often referred to as "Little Switzerland", en route to the charming market town of Helmsley. We pause here to enjoy free time and lunch in its attractive market square. Later, we make our way down the dramatic Sutton Bank, taking in spectacular views before arriving in Thirsk, famously associated with James Herriot. After some time to explore, we return to the hotel. This evening, further in-house entertainment awaits. For guests wishing to attend Midnight Mass, details of local services will be available from reception.
Day 3: Christmas Day. Merry Christmas! Enjoy a relaxing morning, open your presents, or maybe take a stroll to work up an appetite for Christmas Day Lunch. After lunch in the afternoon, listen to the King’s speech with a slice of Christmas cake, and perhaps watch a movie, before getting ready for tonight’s Christmas Day Buffet. This is followed by a quiz and music from our resident DJ.
Day 4: Boxing Day. This morning we travel to the ancient and historic city of Durham. Acclaimed as a World Heritage Site, the city is dominated by the magnificent cathedral and Norman castle nearby, sitting high above the River Wear. We have a chance to explore the historic city where a visit to the cathedral is highly recommended! There is a wide range of shops to explore and lots of opportunities for lunch. Away from the bustle, you can stroll along the wooded riverbanks offering a peaceful retreat below the pealing bells of the cathedral. On our return to the hotel, there is a final evening of entertainment after dinner.
Day 5: After breakfast, we leave and begin our journey home.
