The Crown Spa Hotel enjoys a commanding position above Scarborough’s South Beach, yet is just a short walk from the beach and the town centre. Bedrooms are all ensuite with TV and tea/coffee making facilities. The hotel hosts its own swimming pool and modern fitness centre. Itinerary

DAY 1: Departing from your home area travelling to the Crown Spa Hotel, Scarborough for 4 nights stay dinner, bed and breakfast. Tea/coffee on arrival.

DAY 2: This morning we head north following the coast road to Whitby, the famous fishing port which was once the home of Captain James Cook. High above the harbour stands the 7th century Whitby Abbey, the inspiration for Bram Stoker's Dracula. We have time to wander around the narrow streets and busy harbourside before leaving for a scenic ride across the moors to Pickering.

DAY 3: A free day to discover the varied attractions of Scarborough. Enjoy the delightful promenade in the Belvedere Gardens, take a short walk to the town centre and shops, or amble down to the beaches of South Bay or the busy little harbour. Have a look at the restored Open-Air Theatre, built in the 1930s and reopened by Her Majesty the Queen in 2010. Explore the town with its indoor markets and antique shops or walk up to Scarboroughâ€™s fortress castle and enjoy the views across the bays.

DAY 4: This morning we leave for a day in the ancient and historic city of York. In York there are lots of things to see and do-The National Railway Museum, The Jorvik Centre, The Castle Museum, stroll around the city walls, wander around the excellent shops, explore the many quaint little alleyways, and, of course, no visit to York is complete without seeing the magnificent York Minster. Late afternoon we return to Scarborough.

DAY 5: After breakfast we leave and head for home.
