Day 1

Depart from your pick up point travelling to Cumbria and arriving late afternoon at Gretna Hall Hotel for Mulled Wine and Mince Pies upon arrival. Four nights stay - dinner, bed and breakfast.

Day 2

Today we head for Longtown and drive along Liddesdale as we make our way to picturesque Kielder Water and Forest Park. We take a break at the visitor centre before continuing to Bellingham and Hexham, dominated by the Abbey overlooking the market square. This afternoon we return along the path of Hadrian's Wall, which stretched some 76 miles from the Tyne to the Solway.

Day 3

This morning we have a drive to the nearby historic Border City of Carlisle. The city has much to offer the visitor - Carlisle Cathedral, founded in 1122, is one of the smallest in the country, the 900-year-old castle, built to keep out the Scots, and the Tullie House Museum, detailing the city's history. The Lanes shopping centre is at the heart of the pedestrianised city centre, with chic boutiques to well-known High-Street names. We make our way back to the hotel for tonight's special Tea Dance, this one features a visit from Santa, bearing a present for those who have been good! Traditional Christmas Turkey Dinner is served with all the trimmings.

Day 4

Border Country is our excursion today. We head north into Scotland and the pleasant town of Moffat, with its connections to the wool trade, for a short break before continuing into the mountains, past picturesque St Mary's Loch, to Selkirk. The Royal Burgh of Selkirk is one of Scotland's oldest burghs and has associations with William Wallace, Bonnie Prince Charlie and writer Sir Walter Scott. From here we head for Hawick and Gretna.

Day 5

After breakfast we leave and begin our journey home.
