Lochs, Rails & Glens

Day 1

Depart from your home area in the morning travelling to the Alexandra Hotel for 4 nights stay dinner, bed and breakfast.

Day 2

This morning will begin with a short walk to the Train Station where we will catch the ScotRail service heading to Mallaig. Mallaig is a historic fishing port based on the west coast of the Highlands. You can enjoy fish and chips and a stroll along the harbour where you can take in all the scenery/views the place has to offer. You might even be lucky enough to see the famous Harbour Seal! We will return to the hotel later in the afternoon. Please be aware the train will be departing around 8am approx. This may be subject to change.

Day 3

After a leisurely breakfast we head to 'The gateway to the Isles' which is Oban. We will travel to Oban via Connal Bridge which is a cantilever bridge than Span Loch Etive. Oban has many attractions such as the Oban Distillery which was established in 1794, McCaigs Tower and the Oban War and Peace Museum. We will return home via Glencoe where we will stop for a photo opportunity.

Day 4

Today we head for Fort Augustus where you will have free time to explore the area. Lying on the impressive 60 mile long Caledonian Canal, halfway between Inverness and Fort William, Fort Augustus offers spectacular views down Loch Ness and is a paradise for keen walkers. There is also plenty attractions including the Caledonian Canal Heritage Centre. We then return home via Spean Bridge war memorial for a photo opportunity and a possible scenic drive (weather dependant) to the Nevis Range chair lift to see views of Ben Nevis before returning home.

Day 5

After breakfast we head for home.
