Day 1

Depart from your home area travelling to North Yorkshire, arriving late afternoon at the Mercure Wetherby Hotel. Four nights stay - dinner, bed & breakfast.

Day 2

Today we head to York to experience the annual JORVIK Viking Festival - a city-wide celebration of York's rich Norse heritage. Recognised as the largest event of its kind in Europe, you can enjoy an exciting programme of events, including living history encampments, markets, workshops, talks, tours and dramatic combat performances.

Day 3

Our day begins with a drive to Skipton - 'Gateway to the Dales'. The Attractive High Street leads up to the church, behind which you see the impressive 900-year-old castle and Skipton Woods. Skipton Castle is one of the most complete and best-preserved medieval castles in England. The High Street is also home to Skipton's famous market, with many varied stalls. From Skipton we make our way to Haworth, home of the famous Bronte sisters and their notorious brother. Little has changed in the village since they lived at the Parsonage.

Day 4

We start with a visit to the Royal Pump Rooms Museum to find out why Charles Dickens said that 'Harrogate is the queerest place with the strangest people in it, leading the oddest lives'. Afterwards, the day is yours to explore Harrogate at your own pace. With huge open spaces and broad tree-lined boulevards, antique shops and shopping malls, elegant buildings, abundant greenery, flowers and plants, it is little wonder that the town is a frequent winner of Britain in Bloom awards. Harrogate also boasts the world-famous Betty's tearooms.

Day 5

After breakfast we leave and head for home.

*Please note that the Viking Festival dates are subject to change*
