Day 2

Spend the day at leisure. Fort William's setting is dramatic, on the shores of Loch Linnhe and under the mighty bulk of Ben Nevis, Britain's highest mountain. Attractions within the town include the West Highland Museum, which houses a large collection of Jacobite memorabilia. Light lunch at hotel.

This morning we join the Scotrail train on a round trip of 84 miles to Mallaig. Regarded as one of the world's great rail journeys, we follow in the footsteps of Harry Potter and the Hogwarts Express. From views of mighty Ben Nevis the memorable journey takes us to Glenfinnan and over the famous 21 arch Horseshoe viaduct, the picturesque silver sands of Morar to Mallaig. We have time for a look around the town before we catch the return train to Fort William. Packed lunch provided.

Today we enjoy a spectacular day out to Spean Bridge, with the Commando Memorial, Loch Garry with stunning views, along Glen Moriston to Loch Ness and Fort Augustus, where the Caledonian Canal meets Loch Ness. Day 5

After breakfast we head home.
